Die, the Beloved Country (South Africa)

Well... he's not entirely off the mark... but I do this the writer is a tad pessimistic.

I'm not exactly a huge South Africa fan and I've been wanting to leave forever, but its not the worst place in the world and there is a lot going for it.

Some of the governments policies (affirmative action, etc) are a problem for young, white males... but it's easy to understand why they need to be in place.

Just to give you another perspective. I've also lived in Johannesburg for 99% of my life and whilst I have been burgled a few times and had my car stolen, I have never been mugged or hijacked, nor has any member of my family (Thank God).

I think the writer is just upset that his sheltered lifestyle has been shaken up a little... but considering what could have happened, I'm very proud of how South Africa is doing.
