just curious, what type of specs do you have to have that desktop setup running smooth?

You don't need too much, but KDE is a bit of a hog sometimes (especially kde-init). GNOME is a bit faster in my opinion. However, anything over 1ghz should be more than enough for either. It really depends on what kind of options and eyecandy you have turned on though. If you want everything to be really smooth, I recommend something more minimal, like blackbox.

That's the idea . Actually, I don't dislike either one of them. But I don't favor one over the other, so I wouldn't have voted.
