SVP quickie

How exactly was it confirmed that the SVP is a Samsung SSP1601 DSP? Was this from a patent, interviews with game designers, recently unearthed documentation, or what? If any of that holds true, do we have links to the relevant sources?

I've been reading a lot of 'it's recently been confirmed' but no concrete information to back that statement up.

Right, so everything goes back to the article on sega-16.com which refers to some "recently unearthed documents" but doesn't provide any more info than that.

(The SSP16 family appears to be still in use in various Samsung parts, such as CD MP3 decoders or DVD servo controllers. However, finding anything even resembling real info is a real bitch.)
