Sonic 3 and/or Knuckles

I like playing them seperately..played S3&K too many times.. miss out on some of the stuff that is only available by playing them individually.

What's the difference between playing them seperately?

All I can remember is that there are two phases of the final boss battle in Sonic 3, when it is not locked on.

Well, the plotline is somewhat different too, and the music for the act one bosses and Knuckles' theme are different. Also, you can't save in S&K by itself.

edit- anyone else think that if they just released all the good levels from S3&K in one cart, and took out all the duds, the game could have surpassed Sonic 2?

I've always liked S3&K the best. I love every level in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, some more than others obviously, but I couldn't pick any that should be removed to make the ultimate sonic game.

Hmm.. I can't remember the zone names, but I never really liked the desert/pyramid level, the first level in S&K (the one with the changing seasons), or the amusement park level. Also, Ice Cap and Lava Reef I only really enjoy for their music. I like all the zones in S2 other than the Aquatic Ruin Zone, however.

The first level in S&K does lack originality, and the floating cylinder road-block at the amusement park is infuriating, but the other levels you mentioned I like. Ice Cap Zone mainly because I've always been a sucker for winter-themed levels.

As for Sonic 2 I didn't like Aquatic Ruin Zone either, nor the fifth zone in the hills. (was it called Hilltop Zone?)

can anyone say SUPER TAILS...

whats up with all this faim on Sonic 2... the game bugged me, like aquatic ruins was just annoying, metropolis was to long and hard for me at the time i got it at age 9 i think, and the last level, air fortress, lacked the ability to run like sonic... felt like mario in the last level.

S3+knuckles only bugged me in the desert and in the fortress zone (end of 3) rest of the game got me with its amazing length in levels with out making it annoyingly hard and keeping you moving.

Except for the damn desert and last level of 3, errr, how many times id get to robuttnik and beat that damn connon thing and have no time left to get across to the rest of the battle with him on the ship. And if i had time, super sonic would always run out. I mean i could just not turn into em' but thats hard to keep rings with the cannon guy and save time and not use the insta shield.

Sonic CD though, wew, music, level design, WACKY WORKBENCH, all time fav.

Yes, It's Hill Top Zone. Not my favorite either, but it has some decent music so I can live with it. I also like the catapults with Badniks on them (similar to those in Star Light Zone), and the moving platforms that go over the lava. Actually the main reason I don't like the first zone in S&K (Mushroom Hill, I believe), is because the music sucks. Well, that and those devices that make you sit there and do pull-ups.

What's everybody's favorite Zone? (Forgive me if we've already done that.) For me it's either Green Hill or Star Light.

Sonic 1 - Star Light Zone

Sonic 2 - Casino Night Zone

Sonic 3 - #3 -whatever it is

S&K - Death Egg
