    Using AR to boot CDs

sounds like it's time to buy a bunch of SH-1s and see which chip it really is.

Saturn protection thread resurrected on cdfreaks

my understanding is that the firmware inside the drive is responsible for translating the given data (image? text?) into showing up on the disc. basically, you wouldnt have control of exactly what it's burning because that would require various software based calculations that would get screwed...

    Using AR to boot CDs

i find the possibility of a debug mode to be unlikely. it sounds like the best course of action would be to replace the firmware on the CD block with a modified version of the existing one. i think you could get away with a single JMP (to go around the code) or some NOPs and possibly BRK...

    Using AR to boot CDs

so my question for that is, can one communicate with the CD block and perhaps tell it the check is complete?

    Using AR to boot CDs

so i was thinking about the action replay device, that it can actually execute it's own code and is called before anything is done with the CD. then i wondered, could an AR card act as a loader for saturn games? doing this would mean loading the code directly from the CD and being executed...

    Cart port possibilities

so, i was thinking of the possibilities of what one could do to the PC Engine by filling empty address space with whatever interface i wanted and it occurred to me that the same may be possible with the Saturn. honestly, the Saturn is a much better candidate for adding something like a ethernet...

Saturn boot cartridge (for Police Officer Smith)

yeah, i was thinking a NAND04GW3B2DN6E may do the trick. sure it's only 512MB but it's close enough.

Saturn boot cartridge (for Police Officer Smith)

that was an example of high capacity flash chip. there are many different chips available that do not require a NDA. what i need is the specifications of what is required. while im sure some people love scavenging for information, i was hoping to get specifications from someone who actually...

Saturn boot cartridge (for Police Officer Smith)

yeah, i wasnt thinking about a SD-card at all, too much BS when working with them. instead, i was thinking about a single flash memory IC, like this one. however, can i get a copy of the schematics to your cart and info about making it bootable?

Saturn boot cartridge (for Police Officer Smith)

ok, this is extremely cool. what im really interested in is making a cart with a substantial amount of (flash) memory(1GB) onboard and a separate programmer. any details you can provide on would appreciated.        :banana...
