Bought the Japanese version a few years back and played it straight through. I have always tried to get into the RE games but something about them just annoy me but this game sucked me in and kept me playing. I would love to get my hands on the Euro release someday. :)
Been playing this for a little over a week myself and I love it. The missions are good and varied and get much harder really fast. The graphics are good, the handling is smooth. Highly recommended. :)

Yeah, CD-R's work fine. Tested quite a few and all boot. Now if only I had a fast processor to play them well. Till then I will keep playing them on my Saturn. :)
